If you follow this story you’ll learn how our Federal Government has just approved the expansion of the Brisbane Airport. BIG DEAL you may say.
Recently I have spoken in the Jimboomba Times about the Australian Rail Track Corporation’s announcement to spend money to up-grade the Brisbane-Sydney-Melbourne rail line.
A specific amount of money was given to the Queensland State Government for dual gauge rail lines to be installed from Bromelton to Acacia Ridge. Work was meant to start in June 2009 but nothing has eventuated.
Senator Wong and the Federal Government claim that food prices won't increase under their ETS but many clear facts point to the reality that prices are most certainly destined to increase under the proposed ETS.
Predicting the exact amount of the food price hike post-ETS isn't an exact science. However, the Australian Retailers Association predicts that food prices will jump about 5%. Other groups say up to 7% while the Reserve Bank has admitted that the ETS will add .4% to the Consumer Price Index.
Make no mistake, Gen Y + Gen X love debt. Their level of consumerism is un-relenting. If they want something now they buy it with no thought of the interest repayments or saving for a rainy day.
If there has been one stark contrast between previous generations and Gen Y/X it’s the refusal of younger folk to save and instead rack everything up on the Credit Card.
Today Cr Hajnal Ban, a Local Government councillor for 5 years and former candidate for the seat of Forde at the 2007 election has today announced she will seek LNP pre-selection for the newly created Federal seat of Wright.
Cr Ban lives in Wright, has campaigned there federally before and her entire Council division is in the new seat.
“While Kevin Rudd talks about stimulating the economy, regional and rural Queensland has been left behind by Labor,
Spencer Howson interviewed me today. The link for the interview can be found here .
Spencer writes;
What is Hajnal Ban's game - what's she up to?
How many other Logan Councillors do you know - especially if you live outside Logan?
Instead of counting costs and searching for survivors after their most recent earthquake, desperate Kiwis have instead whipped out the old measuring tape, rowed the ditch and discovered that the latest seismic shudder off their South Island has shunted New Zealanders 30cm closer to being officially called Aussies.
The Labor Party and Kevin Rudd made much ado when self confessed terrorist David Hicks was imprisoned by Americans at Guantanamo Bay but has remained nonchalant about the plight of imprisoned Rio Tino executive Stern Hu. Is anyone else sickened by Rudd’s ‘who gives a hoot’ approach to the worrying imprisonment of a senior Australian Businessman?
Many residents of the Logan City Council area would have received their rates notices over the last few days. 40% of people in the former Beaudesert area actually had a rates decrease and the majority of the rest only rose a few percent.
Former Beaudesert resident’s rates have been frozen while the rest of Logan catches up to their rating level. A rates freeze is an incredible achievement for any local government. I am fighting hard for residents of my area to ensure their voice is heard.
One year ago this month the Liberal National Party was formed. The unification of the conservative parties in Queensland had been a long time coming. The LNP was created from the remnants of the Liberal and National parties in Queensland. It was a momentous occasion for our state.
What can the LNP do to prepare itself for forming government and becoming campaign ready?
